I visit other people’s offices from time to time as part of my job. I take every opportunity I can get to sneak into unused meeting rooms to draw a comprehensively labelled Actualising Hexagon Methodology on the whiteboard for others to find

Usually I hear those corpo bullshit terms and just zone out. Nothing of value is going to follow so it doesn’t matter. Not worth my time.
They are the people who could be replaced with an LLM at no loss, you could also replace them with a kitten for +8 to staff morale.
There was one time I was chatting with a coworker and they mentioned wanting to apply for a higher position. When I asked them why they wanted the position I got hit with their elevator speech and I heard a bunch of buzzwords but nothing of substance. It was really strange because all of our other conversations were normal and kinda a red flag because it was so rehearsed and un-genuine
Back in the 1990s, a colleague and I manage to get the “Performance Enterprise Network Information System” project endorsed and launched across a team of several hundred people. Someone remarked it was a bit of a mouthful. We were very proud.

Tbh I like the principle of an idea fridge.
It can be easily understood as something that is paused, and only paused, for a short period of time but then continued.
The rest I don’t quite see the usefulness.
When you triangle back to something, you return to it after 3 sharp turns instead of gradually coasting around like a circle. Its more efficient.
And like most things in my fridge it’ll get thrown out in a week or so, when it inevitably goes off due to non-use. For some reason I feel much happier about throwing away food after it’s been mildly chilled for 14 days.
Yeah, the idea fridge is where you put an idea you don’t want right now but you feel guilty about throwing it out right away. So you let it sit in there until it has undeniably gone bad and you have to throw it out, but it’s not your fault because you were totally going to take it back out but you couldn’t have predicted that it would spoil. Oh well, can’t do anything about that.
Maybe we can also have an “Idea Gym” - you’ll constantly pay for the idea of using it in the future. You don’t cancel the idea gym membership because you feel bad about losing access to the idea, even though the chances of ever taking up the idea are very slim.
So technical debt?

The operations team closed all open merge requests older than 2 years at my firm recently.

Movies, paintings, poems and music are all made up as well so people have just been guessing meaning where there is none
Had a marketing co-worker (semiconductor industry) who managed to get C-level execs to use the phrase “tea-bagging” to refer to sending hardware samples to various reviewers or journalists. It was endlessly amusing to hear in a company-wide presentation. He was so proud.
I’m sure Nate’s had other career highlights since then, but that was certainly an early success.
