Usually a temp ban for a day or two (up to a month or so depending on how bad), and usually only on one community on one instance. You can’t be banned from all of Lemmy unless your own instance admin bans you.
Kobold broke the rules down the comment thread, and was banned for 2 weeks from this community alone, as an example.

You can critique socialist states as long as they are critiqued from a grounded position not colored by imperialist consent manufacturing, and you can definitely critique the Russian Federation as it hasn’t been socialist since the early 90s.
Posting anti Russian/China/DPRK is how I learned that I’ve been unwittingly propagating propaganda as an American.
It’s those people to double down on their brain washing despite being presented w proof that they’re wrong are the ones who get banned.

Here’s what I think. Fuck USSR. Maybe my take is a little biased because my parents and grandparents grew up under its oppression and I know hundreds of people whose families were killed or sent to the deep end of Russia and left there to die. Many of them died. Many walked for years back home because of the Love of their country.
You can’t imagine the relief everyone felt when it finally collapsed. That we preserved our language and culture despite of all the efforts to erase us.
Only people who glorify that trash are alcoholic diaspora who were left behind by their great regime and dumbasses who have no idea what they are talking about.
The USSR had steady and consistent economic growth, and provided free, high quality education and healthcare, full employment, cheap or free housing, and fantastic infrastructure and city planning. This rapid development resulted in dramatic democratization of society, reduced disparity, doubling of life expectancy, tripling of functional literacy rates to 99.9%, and much more. Living in the 1930s famine would not have been good, but it was the last major famine outside of wartime because the soviets ended famine in their countries.
Literacy rates, societal guarantees in the 1936 constitution, reports on the healthcare system over time, and more are good sources for these claims.
The USSR brought dramatic democratization to society. First-hand accounts from Statesian journalist Anna Louise Strong in her book This Soviet World describe soviet elections and factory councils in action. Statesian Pat Sloan even wrote Soviet Democracy to describe in detail the system the soviets had built for curious Statesians to read about, and today we have Professor Roland Boer’s Socialism in Power: On the History and Theory of Socialist Governance to reference.
When it comes to social progressivism, the soviet union was among the best out of their peers, so instead we must look at who was actually repressed outside of the norm. In the USSR, it was the capitalist class, the kulaks, the fascists who were repressed. This is out of necessity for any socialist state. When it comes to working class freedoms, however, the soviet union represented a dramatic expansion. Soviet progressivism was documented quite well in Albert Syzmanski’s Human Rights in the Soviet Union.
The truth, when judged based on historical evidence and contextualization, is that socialism was the best thing to happen to Russia in the last few centuries, and its absence has been devastating.
Capitalism brought with it skyrocketing poverty rates, drug abuse, prostitution, homelessness, crime rates, and lowered life expectancy. An estimated 7 million people died due to the dissolution of socialism in the USSR. To this day, a large majority of post-soviet citizens regret the fall of socialism in Europe. A return to socialism is the only path forward for the post-soviet countries.

Nobody lived good under socialism. Maybe the factory chimneys and conveyor belts barely ever stopped but people had no life. You were either slaving in a factory for bread, sossage and a bottle of vodka. Or got sent to the military for years. Or jail.
We were not allowed to speak in our language nor sing. You’d get deported to a military hotspot far away to die or be put in jail for such a crime.
Smartest and most tallanted people and their families were killed or deported. Replaced with ruskies who came to loot and destroy.
Absolutely nobody was glad to live under the oppression of communist russia. While the rest of Europe thrived we lived almost a century behind.
It only brought destruction and pain for us.

This is plainly false, though. I already posted ample sources so I won’t retread old ground, but the idea that socialism was the problem isn’t realistic in the slightest. Western Europe thrived due to imperialism and colonialism, while the USSR aided liberation struggles around the world. This led to sanctions and trade embargoes, limiting access to luxury goods beyond what could be domestically produced. You aren’t speaking truth, but you did start lashing out at people and thus your comment was removed. And no, I’m not a moderator.

Actually no. When socialism collapsed we finally were free to do whatever we want. We started our own businesses with our own values that we individually believed in. We were free, at last.
Those on the other hand, who needed socialist forced factory work in order to do something, became total bums and these are the big crybabies who say that ussr took care of them. We have always encouraged them to move to their mother russia, but there you see, it’s much harder to be a bum. So they stay, do nothing and cry about ‘good old times’
These women, if they were educated in medicine or science could continue their careers if they were capable. The choice now was in their own hands. And to be fair, I have never ever heard that post soviet collapse sex work grew in my country.

What sources count as “unbiased?” All sources have bias, that doesn’t mean they are wrong inherently.

The proof comes in the form of the State Department or the Library of Congress of the United States admitting to doing the things that they’re accused of doing and it’s done in a similar way that people are learning from the Epstein files.
If you still don’t think that this isn’t proof, then there’s nothing anyone can do for you.
I don’t know what you’re referencing specifically; I was temp-banned from .ml for citing accounts from people who used to live in China and left the country as sources for what life in China was like for them, and was provided counter-‘proof’ from Chinese state media. That was basically all I needed to see to understand that, while I’m on board with the stance that western sources are not always accurate, what’s being pushed there is an agenda, not a search for truth.
