Actually it’s more likely that the whole crew was shit faced. I know a few people who work on a smaller passenger ferry. It was common practice for everyone on the last sailing on a Friday (including the helmsman) to split a bottle of rum during the last sailing, Moore the boat and go straight to the pub.
Being shitfaced and crashing into something is what is know in nautical terms as “an unexplained navigation system malfunction”, because “we can’t say why the ship didn’t turn” goes over a lot better than “the ship didn’t turn because we didn’t forgot to turn the ship”

My favourite bit is the story of Lilith being excised from the Bible which is so fucking on-brand I can’t even be mad about the decision. Kinda makes the whole story all the more powerful in my eyes.
Lots of stuff was left out of the Bible, like the Gospel of Judas. A lot of people don’t realize that, or that the gospels were all written a century after the men they were named for died.
