I guarantee you updates this infrequent would break most distros
This is a complete non-issue for any fixed-release distro I’ve ever heard of. You’re supposed to update more often for security reasons (on internet-connected devices, anyway), not because it would break on updates.
You’re right, somehow I forgot about point releases. I was thinking Fedora, which has broken on my before when I waited too long to update (multiple months). And yeah updates are good for security. I just keep my device offline 99% of the time
