So, the dumbasses at my local Department of Transportation decided that it would be a GREAT idea to close one of two lanes of a major freeway at the beginning of rush hour so some guy could walk around taking pictures. Traffic was stopped for 4 miles and getting deeper. This is the second time this week!

    Sounds like a surveyer, its an essential part of maintaining and expanding infrastructure

        Just be glad its getting done at all, that person even being there likely took a lot of paperwork and red tape.

      There’s nothing to expand. They just finished 10 years of work building the overpass and suicide merge for 65mph traffic. Trying to force any more into that area will turn it into a parking lot

        Given the context youve provided and what little i know about the subject, its likely he was there to inspect all the work done and make sure it was done well. Better to close that one lane now then spend another ten years with that lane closed right?

        Post-build they want to clean up the as-built docs and ensure they’re accurate.

        That’s only one of probably many reasons they would close the lane.
