Because even when they have no lives left they still have nein!
The German word for “no” in this context is “keine”, not “nein”.
No, I’m not fun at parties. I’m German.A German joke is no laughing matter!

(It’s not funny, but it’s efficient)
Can confirm German attitude. I’d also say this joke does sadly not work.
Not OP, but the joke is fixable - when death asks the cat IF they have any lives left - and if so, how many - the cat says “nein”.
Still awkward, but at least grammatically correct!
This guy germans.
Let me top that by correcting the joke:
Because when they’re asked if they have any lives left they say “nein!”
If Germans are not fun at parties, explain this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTs6R1AseXg&pp=ygULZ2lnYW50b2JhbGw%3D
It was an expected risk, posting a joke in a language I don’t sprechen.

Any time I listen to Rammstein’s song Du Hast, right before he shouts “Nein!” I like to shout questions like “How many lives does a cat have?” Or “What’s the square root of 81?”
