Looks great, can old Google location data be imported?

You’re absolutely not wrong.
But I’m still gonna clap.

Not defending the behavior in question, but Linux nowadays is MUCH simpler to understand than Windows or MacOS. It is by far the easiest operating system to change to, and the easiest to learn if you are somehow not familiar with any. From a user standpoint it’s the least “techie” OS now (aside from mobile OS of course).
What you describe about “needing to take courses” was true ten years ago, it was probably true three years ago. It is just simply not true now.
How would you do presence detection (getting home)
I have a sensor on my front door that triggers an automation that sends a text to everyone’s phones that is (supposed to) trigger a location update. It then waits ten seconds and checks everyone’s phones to see what wifi network they are connected to, it then waits another ten seconds and if nobody’s location is “home”, or nobody’s wifi is the home network, then it texts everyone an alert of a possible break in.
Only about 50% of the time does it correctly identify someone legitimately coming home lol

Lol, well if we agree on something then you know it’s serious. This guy doesn’t seem to understand that his issue with “Lemmy” is a fundamental one.

The purpose, 👏THE.👏PURPOSE.👏of the ActivityPub protocol is to give ultimate moderation power to instance owners (as opposed to a singular, usually corporate, owner).
That is (and I can’t stress this enough) the entire point.

ActivityPub is designed to create platforms that enable customized moderation experiences in order to resist corporate/commercial influence.
ActivityPub also resists government censorship, because a thousand copies get made for every post, one for every federated instance.
If you’re looking for a platform where your personal speech can be forced upon others then ActivityPub is quite literally the opposite of what you’re looking for.

I don’t have time today

Sometimes yes in my experience, but mostly it works fine. I suspect it’s a game of whack-a-mole with VPN companies constantly rotating IPs.

When will F-Droid stop working on stock android? I want to try and change to Graphene before then.

Wasn’t a fan of their hub so I connect the bulbs directly to my ZigBee hub/dongle.
I did the same, I wish it was more widely known that it was possible (and very easy with Zigbee2Mqtt).

That’s actually interesting because Google’s MVNO is on T-Mobile and Google was pushing hard for RCS.

I just checked and it’s in the HACS docs

I just checked and it’s in the docs but I’ve never needed it…

Same. I have to imagine there are some devs out there who will start working on Linux ports of their apps.

How are you liking Kagi? Is it worth it?

It says “for the purposes of cleaning image search engines” but also I’m sure the venn diagram of sites with AI images and slop sites with AI text are nearly a circle.

I would prefer one that removed AI slop sites from search but I suppose if a site has AI images then it’s for all intents and purposes slop anyway.
my question is, does it really matter doing all of that before deleting when it comes to privacy?
It doesn’t hurt to be thorough but FWIW they say it will be deleted:
What happens if I permanently delete my Facebook account?
Your profile, photos, posts, videos, and everything else you’ve added will be permanently deleted. You won’t be able to retrieve anything you’ve added.
So the automation is triggered if the power draw is above a certain amount? I assume there is a smart plug? Or is it a dishwasher with Wifi? Forgive me still learning how these things work.
