If I dont set an alarm, I’ll get anxious about oversleeping and not nap at all.
If you get good enough at naps, you can do short ones pretty consistently with no alarm. You basically stay conscious through the whole thing and wake yourself up right after the transition point, which is this really distinctive sensation like exhaustion being physically flushed out of your head. After that there’s diminishing returns to staying asleep longer and no clear signal to get up, so you just have to get to that point and then open your eyes.
Most people here, except myself, already seem to have learnt that my “I’m just going to take a nap” means I’m sleep-deprived, and I’ll sleep 6h straight.
The confusion I feel for the first few minutes when I wake up is like free drugs without all the hassle of trying to obtain them or the recovery!
Especially if I go for an early evening snooze then wake up when it’s darker and I don’t know if it’s AM or PM!
i do something similar, except i set alarms and the surprise is whether i will actually get up, just set a new one and keep eeping. (its not really a surprise…)
Haha yes. At some point the alarm becomes just another disturbance
The way I solved this was brute forcing myself to wake up the first time and start juggling until I fully wake up. It takes about 2 minutes but the juggling getting me through those 2 minutes is crucial.
lol thats great except i don’t know how to juggle ;w;
I usually I’d wake up after 20 mins like clockwork. One day my clock broke and I found out. New job does not let me have power naps.
Such a luxury
