This is mainly someone finally taking care of themselves, what results in the glowup.

In addition to lighting, makeup, haircut, and skincare, HRT has redistributed fat on her face, giving her fuller cheeks. She also has subtle on the left which highlights less feminine contours. It’s a huge glowup, but not impossible by any stretch. I bet you look more similar than you think.

i don’t want to smell like estrogen. i want to absolutely reek of it. I want it to be like cartoons where there’s a visible scent trail coming off of a pie and a hungry character starts floating towards the pie when they smell it, except I’m the pie. i want to look like i’m dropping off the formula of estrogen and people are crying that their family is transed.

i am the trans. you are the wall and i’m around you. i am the estrogen and you shall not shame my name. i shall bless all who need their hormone and i shall be the definition of makeup everyone will point at.

i shall make people cry for they cant get light angles well enough to rival me. i shall make people overjoyed when they see me and saddened when i leave. i shall disappear insecurities and let the haters drown in love, as swift as a coursing river and fair as a terrible maiden, as the undefined void that gives light. you who read are welcome and in time shall find your happiness. seek the light of friendship and queerhood and we shall live to thrive in a trove of blåhajs.

I don’t know if the sexual innuendo was intentional or not, but I love it!

It’s quite possible they used a different camera/lens because of how the proportions of their face also changed. But also makeup and good skincare can go a long ways as well.

I’d buy you a regular monster, because it’s the best. But I don’t wanna get sucked dry, after all we’re pretty much made out of water and I don’t wanna look like an empty potato sack.

Serious question from someone uninformed on the topic: is it just a photography thing, or can HRT actually change the shape of your skull?

HRT does not alter bone structure (in those who have fully developed bones). What it will do, however, is alter fat distribution in the body and face, giving a more feminine appearance. Also worth mentioning that it can affect pelvic tilt, which may appear like a bone structure change, but it’s not.

Fun fact! The same thing happens with bodybuilders take steroids. It changes their face look so much!

(couldn’t find a better photo so I used a YouTube thumbnail lol)

Actually, steroids are essentially my HRT in reverse. It makes me look younger, softer skin, less muscle, less acne, etc. whereas body builders who take gear look older, have thicker skin, more muscle, more acne, etc.

Women who get on steroids and take testosterone is LITERALLY the same thing as FtM HRT.

I’ve been watching an ex bodybuilders YouTube who does a lot of activism against unhealthy steroid use and it’s REALLY fascinating to me how gender expression can be so opposite but still so similar.

Men taking steroids is (more or less) essentially DIYHRT just for cis men instead of trans men. Same testosterone coming from the same oversea suppliers. (ignoring that testosterone is only 1 chemical bodybuilders inject, there’s a LOT of others)

I’ve literally recommended someone doing DIYHRT to get blood work done by a company that the YouTuber recommends to people on steroids to get their blood work done.

Not like, estrogen literally is a steroid. If you’re taking HRT you’re doing steroids.

Most laypeople mean anabolic steroids when they say steroids. Those are the masculine ones that build muscles, but steroids as a category includes much more.

All sex hormones are steroids. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are all steroids. So is cortisol, and many others that regulate many bodily functions. Steroids are a biological communication protocol used to control many things.

Maybe I’m just being pedantic, (probably) but far from steroids in reverse, estrogen is the best steroid of all.

But that picture also has very different framings. The steroid picture is taken from much further away with a lot of zoom. His face looks flat and you can see both temples simultaneously. Faces change dramatically based on how you photograph them.
