Currently on an enjoyable journey of de-googling, upping privacy, data sovereignty and so on.

Apps that do this just get it.

My partner recently decided to be privacy conscious specifically to spite me.

They responded positively to my desire to move back to signal for texting (used it when i was on android because iOS enforced a delay that caused messages to receive out of order), but decided to be shitty about it and punish me by deactivating all notifications including just name. Im the only one they talk to on it. So now I have to wait for them to get around to viewing my messages whenever their reminder goes off to check it.

Like… that kind of defeats the purpose of moving communications over if i have to send them a text through imessage to tell them to check signal (they talked me into an iphone “for privacy” and it has been an absolute nightmare)

Meanwhile I have always had all notifications disabled or set to minimum, simply because notifications bug the hell out of me and i don’t want them for any reason that isn’t urgent, and they have constant app notifications. “IT security specialist” my asshole.

Tell them about Molly: molly.im and Molly socket, molly is a signal fork with all the closed source stuff ripped out and replaced, and it lets you use unifiedpush

Thank you for this. For me, though, for telling people. Im presently on ios as is partner.

I genuinely appreciate it for myself and the friends who went to signal with me because i want us all to be safe. Like my ladyfriends who want to send sexy messages to their wierdo boyfriends. They all only signal now, instead of snapchat.

The individual in need of that message, though, The one you sent it for, will… never fucking listen. Years and years of effort. Zero result.
