My first Captain.
Now we have to start keeping track of who’s still alive from the TNG cast.
He was only 10-20 years older than basically everybody else except Wil Wheaton, who is 32 years younger than Stewart.
We all knew this was inevitable, as such is how time and mortality works. But it still sucks to now be faced with now McFadden and Spiner being only 9 years behind.
…I can’t help but think of poor Wil, though.
It’s strange that, much of TNG and, Stewart’s own role particularly, was teaching us about loss, mortality, and the passing of time, and yet, on his passing, the very man who tried teaching us to be at peace with time, being present, and finality, we are so sad.
I feel so small and helpless, yet simultaneously ancient. I wish I could say I were wise, now. But I’m simply stupid and lost. I wish I could only be happy in celebration for all that I’ve learned and done, and for what he’s given us and for what he represents. … But it still hurts and I’m still sad.
literally teary-eyed to hear this
End of a legend.
No, the end of his mortal life. But his legend will live on, and I will, for the rest of my life, carry him in my heart.
