I always measure twice - before and after cutting.
Measure once, cut twice
It is my understanding that bench planes are best stored on their sides anyway, keep the surface from marring the iron’s cutting edge.
I store mine flat but with the heels up…I find it on.
Yeah I was coming up for a flimsy excuse to lay the plane down so the drawer would close.
Would it fit at an angle? And what’s underneath? Any leeway?
