“That you can self-host” Does a budgeting tool need to be a service that’s constantly running and not an application? I struggle to see how having it running as a service on some box somewhere is going to help. “It’s so you can access it on your phone elsewhere.” Oh great. It’ll have a garbagepuke mobile UI.
The Bloody Awful.
“Has that beef got bones in it?”
YEESS
Basically there’s your answer. Hang onto Windows until then, move your workload over as much as possible, and then jump ship.
You have to know when enuff z’nuff.
I wonder what the newest PC motherboard with the BIOS ROM in a socketed DIP chip is.
IBM built the original PC from off the shelf components and for some reason negotiated a non-exclusive license for MS-DOS with Microsoft. The only thing in the PC they held a copyright on was the BIOS ROM. A few companies tried making clones, IIRC Eagle Computer just brazenly dumped the IBM BIOS and used that and got sued out of existence. I believe it was Compaq that developed their own MS-DOS compatible BIOS from scratch that did not infringe so IBM had no case to sue. IBM got a competitor they didn’t want, and the PC became a 40 year platform.
Holy dissertation, Batman!
Yeah it’s just jabbed in end first at the scientifically most chaotic angle.
Isn’t a 4004 a 4-bit ALU?
Leaded AVGAS is still in use.
I don’t think creating, or even working towards, usable end products is their goal. I’m not actually sure what’s up with Pine64, they made the most sense to me when I first heard of them as an also ran to Raspberry Pi. There’s lots of those and they all make an equal amount of sense.
Why does this remind me of The Phantom Tollbooth?
I think everyone should do what I did and stop enjoying such things. Kill the media by not watching ads, not buying movie tickets, not paying subscriptions. Cut them out of society entirely.
Connected through every single coax connector made by man.
To be fair on the guy, Canonical’s website is corporate sewage. finding the right ISO is a chore.
One of the last conversations I had on Reddit was with a guy complaining about how crap Linux is, that he installed Ubuntu and the desktop didn’t even work, it went straight to a terminal, and after some prodding he said that he couldn’t even get APT to work, and it hit me: “You didn’t install Ubuntu Core, their embedded OS version, did you?” No response.
It’s a penny farthing, so he probably fell off and it hurt really bad so now he’s crying.
Are you required to “swim” in the traithlon, or do you have to do a distance across a body of water?
Yeah it’s not open source unless the title is a garbage fire.
