EDIT: The sweater text said “BOY” with the male symbol for the “O.” Which I thought indicated an old boyfriend. But I’m assuming it’s implying that Mom is trans and used to be a boy? I still don’t understand the crying though.

My initial impression was the old ex they might’ve lost?? The jacket foes have emo vibes. The boy bit feels like its emphasizing, because even if trans, gives me, “you look just like X when I met them” sort of vibe

it’s a boymoder sweater, which is a 4tran (the trans part of 4chan) meme. “boymoder” being a trans woman who still presents as a man (or a boy)
so ya, mom is trans, and she’s probably crying because the memories of being forced into masculinity as a trans woman aren’t fun ones…

there’s big offshoots on reddit, xitter and the fediverse but yes, a lot of it is on 4chan (the /lgbt/ board specifically)
and it’s just as nasty as you’d expect
