when I was in middle school I racked up over half a YEAR playtime in Minecraft and gave myself carpel tunnel. I only played Minecraft 1.8.9 which was at least 10 versions out of date by that point. I never even made anything I just played on Hypixel.
I did get full superior dragon armor in Hypixel Skyblock by spotting that you could buy a fish for 2 coins but sell it for like 20 coins if you craft it into bait because people are lazy. So I bought and sold millions of fish 2,500 at a time.
I later found that you could just craft dragon armor using shards and sell them on the auction house for about 100k profit and made BANK before other people caught on.
I loved finding those little market loopholes. Sad that nerds eventually caught on and made websites to automate it, and that the game went pay to win. Those were some good times though.
also hot take but dwarvern mines ruined the game. It’s “SKYblock” not “infinite land block”
please play dwarf fortress.

Hey EYE Devine Cybermancy isn’t just the worst, it’s also the best.
I played Rappelz. I played Rappelz off and on through 2014. (US servers, the Korean ones were way too hardcore for me)
Man, all y’all playing games people have heard of. Filthy casuals with your “Warframe”, “Runescape”, “Minecraft”, “TF2” and “Diablo”.
I, a true connoisseur, personally spent my childhood sinking over 2000 hours into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (not to be confused with the far more popular and lauded Final Fantasy Tactics). It’s the only Final Fantasy game I know of that has never been rereleased. The other game of my childhood was over 200 hours in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. The first video game I can remember playing was Final Fantasy II.
Okay but The Minish Cap is a straight up banger so I’d say it balances out
Oh, absolutely, it’s just generally regarded as among the lower-tiers of the franchise. Those reviewers clearly lack refined taste.
I llke how you make fun of people for liking mainstream games, and then proceed to list off some of the most mainstream games ever that you so happen to like.
I think they were joking.
Yeah I think so too.
Let the record reflect that the above comment was facetious in its tone when it “made fun of” people, as I attempted to make clear with the meme “filthy casuals”.
As far as FFTA, while I, personally, think FFTA was an excellent game, in the first listing I could find that even acknowledged its existence, it is ranked above only two of the eight non-mainline games. It is completely forgotten by the vast majority of online discourse, and is not looked on favourably compared to other games in the franchise.
The first game I played (FFII) is, generally, regarded as one of the worst, if not the worst, FF games ever made, to the point of being famously unplayable.
Meanwhile, the Minish Cap is listed here by metacritic as being approximately 3/4 of the way down the list among the lower-tier entries in the franchise, below even phantom hourglass and the oracle games.
Let us consider, then, the games I was comparing them to:
Minecraft is one of the top-selling games of all time, Runescape has been continually played for so long that old-school run escape currently has over 100000 players online. Right now.
TF2 is the constant source of popular internet memes, and has over 45000 active players right now on steam
Are you seriously suggesting these compare to the least-loved of these other franchises?
The point of the post is to discuss the bad games into which you sunk hundreds of hours, not just list Minecraft, Civilization, and Team Fortress 2, some of the most well-beloved games of all time.
God I loved Tactics Advance so much. You know there was a DS sequel? Looks badass, I’m concerned I’ll just ruin the magic memories.
Yeah, but even I thought that the sequel didn’t look good in terms of crunchiness. I liked how there were thousands of different options for team load out and equipment and abilities in the original, but it seemed like they streamlined it for FFTA2. Also, it seemed like it retconned some of the back story of the original, which made me not want to play it.
I never gave it a chance, then.
I’ve played Wazhack so much. Is it pretty? Not really. Does it have bugs? Yes. Have I played a ton on the website, bought the website version, bought it so long ago was sent a steam code, and now have way too many hours on the steam version. I love it. I go back to it.
Now that makes me feel old. I played a bunch of minecraft, but abruptly stopped and never went back. When i played the beat gear you could have was diamond armor and diamond sword. The other day i randomly watched. a minecraft video and was like: what’s all this?
If you played Minecraft then you’re not old.
Minecraft became popular when I was a 12. How old am I?
spoiler
Take the year and substract 2000. Thats the answer
I mean… Diamond is still the 2nd best and the newat teir is still fairly new.
Majority of the new stuff they’ve added is just new blocks to build with.
Gonna toss this in here cause it is a little known game that I have heard described as a glue trap for autism (and I am a stuck rat with 3000 hours).
Siralim Ultimate
If you like creature collectors and putting together broken builds with an insane number of moving parts a la magic the gathering you will probably enjoy it.
Oh no. This game is dangerous to me, i can already tell.
If you enjoy games you can farm infinitely, theory crafting builds that make it so your NPC opponents don’t get to play the game you paid for, making meme builds a reality, and collecting a bunch of lil guys it is going to be so dangerous.
It also has built in randomized and challenge modes.

combat arms
Elite: Dangerous. 1300 hours and counting.
Frontier are an absolute shitcake of a company, and David Braben is a greedy motherfucker. The game is a mile wide and an inch deep, with some fucknasty game mechanics and grinds.
Despite all that and more, nothing I’ve played so far in my 44 years on this earth is quite as fucking cool an experience. It works well with all my simrig peripherals including the TrackIR, which helps the experience a lot I will admit. But still, it has it’s moments.
the worst part of hyperfixating on a really niche game is no one knows wtf youre talking about when you finally have a chance to info dump about it
But they need to know where the highest point in each level of Bubsy 3D is!
Just add another layer to the info dump!
not every weird thing is because autism.
- Not every weird interest is autism
- Not every habit that disrupts your productivity is ADHD
- Wanting things to be tidy / clean / organized is not always OCD
In 2000, mental orders were under discussed. In 2015+, people are obsessed with labeling themselves as some sorta broken.
Statistically most of you guys are just slightly nerdy, lazy, and picky. Not autistic / adhd / OCD.
It’s almost like autism is a set of traits that everyone has to a small degree they are simply stronger and highly amplified in people with autism to the point of it greatly affecting their daily lives.
Everyone can spend too much time on a video game, autistic people who have a special interest in video games are way more likely to spend insane hours on the the games they fixate on.
the irony is that you can find this comment under any post about autism, which sure seems like a hyperfixation to me.
But this one is
The ADHD people play good games instead
I have both and spent a decade playing WOW 🤣
or none at all because i have so many and then get caught up thinking about which ones could get played or my backlog or the emulators or the…
fuck it road rash 64 it is
I play them. Finish? We don’t do that here
carpal tunnel from playing a video game obsessively
And I’m instantly transported back to the heady days of Diablo II. Thank you for that jaunt down memory lane.
Diablo II was my middle school life. I think I had eleven accounts full of chars? Eventually I learned how to set up bots, and botted while I was at school. I got home one day to a blue magic item that I thought was trash, and it turned out to be worth an obscene amount of high runes!
I think you would really thrive in EVE Online, if you’re looking for a different sandbox to pull off this kind of crap in. Your autist and autist-tolerant community awaits.
The game is so complex and nuanced that the learning curve is nigh impossible to overcome by yourself but it also means that the game is full of fun little interactions and opportunities for people to discover and exploit.
A lot of early game poverty, sprawling decision fatigue, and impenetrable mechanical complexity can be mitigated by knowing people, so if you do give it a try, DM me and I can infodump all about my special interest.
As someone who’s currently winning the game at the moment, I will note for those interested but unfamiliar that “winning the game” is what Eve players call taking a break. At this point, it’s more fun as a game to read about. But getting to that point was an adventure for sure, and I still hang in my old corp’s spaces.
Most of the game is boring, but the fun parts absolutely gave me the highest adrenaline highs of any game by far.

Always kinda wanted to get into eve, just didn’t have any friends into it and yea it’s pretty intimidating to get into solo
Also ck2 and eu4
i dumped 7000 hours into skyblock before getting a job and realizing I don’t got time for that anymore lol. hit level 500+78b networth with a lot of shit maxed out and called it
Do you mean the Minecraft Mod?
I’m talking about the "mini"game on hypixel, basically an mmorpg
