It’s most consumed in Mexico actually, and has a large hand in that country’s diabetes and obesity epidemics.
Individual choice is commendable ideal, it also allowed tobacco companies to wreak a century of woe for profit.
Don’t put it in your mouth. And watch out for sofa manufacturers who sneak into your room at night and force feed you.

So, to be clear, you’d like all sugar banned from the USA? Because the muffin at the grocery store has a bunch of sugar in it too, but no one seems to care about that.
I’m fine with banning sugar. I just want to know how you’re going to justify focusing on coke and not…. Basically ALL American food.
Coke makes dozens of soft drinks. And perpetrates a large share of plastic waste, I wouldn’t mind an example being made of them.
I’m not suggesting banning sugar in any way. I’m suggesting that some form of regulation could take place. A tax, a limitation beyond how much you can physically dissolve in the liquid, a warning label. Something.
Don’t tax anything. Just don’t consume it. Done. No one has anyone by the throat forcing them to drink soft drinks.
