For a secure browser, I run Brave on my Android and Librewolf on my laptop. This is my login browser for social, email, etc. I’m not too concerned about the browser as the sites are the more privacy invasive issue.

My other browser is my main browser and deletes all data on exit. This one I want more privacy. Currently, I’m using Tor. Brave is installed for when Tor gets blocked.

I disagree that the browser matters less than the sites. A leaky browser can expose your hardware fingerprints and IP before the site even loads its own scripts. Brave might block ads, but it doesn’t stop the underlying telemetry. If you want real isolation, you need something more hardened than Brave.

Hiding properties of your physical hardware is a lot of work and comes with tradeoffs, and it’s worth asking what exactly you’re trying to accomplish. If it’s being anonymous, then you want Tor or Mullvad browser. If you just want to confuse websites then LibreWolf has fingerprinting protection enabled (and other Firefox browsers can toggle it on), Brave also has that but not as aggressive, but neither will work as well for fingerprint protection especially if you modify the settings or install extensions or even just resize the window.

I’m terrible at modifying my browser and making it more secure. My own Firefox, for example, isn’t very secure at all.

I was just looking for a secure browser for personal safety. Now, anonymity would make sense to not me since I barely know much about technology.

I can’t tell what exactly you’re trying to stay safe from. If it’s exploits and getting hacked, then Firefox is good basically as long as it’s on desktop and not installed through Flatpak. If it’s telemetry from the browser itself, then LibreWolf and Floorp are better choices. If it’s tracking from websites, then having an ad-blocker and light fingerprint protection has basically no downsides which you can get on any Firefox-based browser (although the Chromium forks are more user-friendly for that specifically) but beyond that requires more effort.

I barely know much about technology.

LibreWolf has somewhat aggressive defaults so it’s not the smoothest browsing experience but easy to work with if you know what to expect. Floorp is my go-to recommendation for people who just want a well-functioning web browser that doesn’t get in their way, but it doesn’t have ad-blocking or anti-fingerprinting enabled by default.

I think LibreWolf only works on Windows computers or Apple devices. What concerned me most was digital privacy, because I feel that Google is always watching us, like a spy. I still don’t know which browser to use—the Firefox browser. Some people say that Mozilla sells some of its users’ data and makes false promises about security.

For now, I think I’ll use the Tor Browser until I find a browser that is more focused on privacy and has more advanced features.
