Took me a moment because I had to consider shitty pronounciation of Spanish by a native speaker of English.
…now say “trace” with a Spanish accent. I wouldn’t call either “shitty,” though. That’s just what an accent is!
I always heard it “trays”
Well - pronouncing “tres” as “trace” goes beyond an accent :) But point taken.
Maybe Spanish from Spain? I did years of AV networking in Chicago and Mexicans pronounce both the same lol
[Edit] I might be overthinking it but if that sounds racist, what I mean is I’ve run thousands of wires (and often traced them) when I worked on the field as an AV and networking installer. Chicago has a large Mexican population so many of my coworkers and fellow tradesmen were Hispanic. I’ve heard both words a lot
Is there a word for a cross-language pun? It feels like there should be. Possibly something long and German.
I don’t know, but I know another good cross language number joke.
There are two cats having a race across a pond. An American cat named One Two Three, and a French cat named Un Duex Trois. Which cat one?
Tap for spoiler
One Two Three cat won, because Un Duex Trois cat sank.
sprachübergreifendes Wortspiel
I KNEW it.
Uh. This was physically painful but I must upvote because it fits the sub.
Where’s the begrudging upvote button?
Haha, so bad. A real Dad joke
