I just nod and make comprehension noises in every conversation. But sometimes nothing went in.

Is there any way to improve this, or is this something you are stuck with for life?

Is that something related to auditory processing disorder? I just realised I might have this.

Also when on a call with people and the connection is bad or there is background noise.

And some people I can straight up not understand at all. They use 10 filler words for every actual word they want to say, and i can never seems to put things together into some coherent message they are trying to convey

i think so yeah. like my brain cares more about making me aware of all the meaningless noise in the room than figuring out what someone is saying -.- there are definitely people i have a harder time understanding. there have been times someone has repeated something to me like 10 times and its just like… you need to use different words i have no fucking idea what youre trying to say to me lol.

I have a problem like this with accents. When I went to highschool it took me a long time to finally understand a guy whose parents are vietnamese. It was definitely 100% grammatically correct with more or less local accent, but the distinction took me embarrassingly too long to learn gradually.
