You wouldn’t be coming home at all after a year, unless you somehow manage to get a cushy position operating a super destroyer instead of dropping from one. This is part of the reason they’re so revered by citizens in-universe, they are explicitly not clones, just held in cryostasis storage and deployed as needed as highly expendable special forces.
