Right, ironically it’s best advise to pay in cash instead of card. Withdraw a certain amount of money as budget for certain time period. That way, you could easily monitor how much you are spending because you physically see how much you’re spending. If you pay mostly or everything by card, it becomes harder to monitor how much you are spending because you don’t physically that you are reaching your budget limit.

I admit I used to prefer to pay by cash but the pandemic changed my habit and everyone else’s. It doesn’t help that establishments are increasingly demanding cashless transactions. They know what they are doing because you are more likely to spend more than you intend if everything is paid for by cashless. It doesn’t help either that inflation had gone up.

I haven’t withdrawn physical money from my bank account in years. So any cash in my household is from like, birthday gifts and the like, making it basically free haha

As far as I’m aware there’s studies confirming this, people are less likely to spend physical money.

Can’t quite make an impulsive purchase on the internet when all you’ve got is cash.

I agree. When I spend cash, I actually feel like I am exchanging something for it. When I use a credit card, I only feel that I exxhanged money after I check my statement.

This is why I set a notification for every transaction. Also useful if your card gets stolen. You’d know right away.

you can also carry some monopoly money and give to the cashier along with the digital transaction. Say that it’s for better managing your money, they will surely understand
