I often have posts that show a comment or two but nothing actually appears in the comments.

Sometimes it shows ‘… deleted their comment’, but i have a feeling it doesn’t always. Maybe because of instances not all federating the same way? I am responding to the question without a real answer I realize now.
Someone you’ve blocked might have commented?
