Maybe, but it was made as a 360 exclusive originally. You know, a machine from '05, you’re talking about a 90nm process for the OG model. So 20 years, which include half of the 10 you mentioned.
Even on the models with dye shrinks those gains aren’t used for performance improvements, merely RROD prevention in the form of not getting hot enough to fry its own guts out
Like, we’re talking a fucking machine with half a gig of RAM. Not VRAM, RAM.
A machine made when YouTube looked liked this:
So five years, at least, with Moore’s law, and another (if we call Moore’s law dead by 2010) 16 for between the port and now, as this game is being designed with current PC hardware in mind. Keep in mind this is all compared the Xbox version which was made for hardware that was only five years older.
That’s before we talk about the limitations of recreating the fucking thing within the same engine as the OG. Neat choice, and the instant graphics switch is neat.
Unfortunately, while normally a new engine is a good thing, there seems to be a lotta hate for UE5 games. I haven’t been playing new AAA stuff recently, so others might be able to speak to that better.
