Just me venting:
So I noticed I was getting spammed with crypto Shit on discord. Turns out my friends hotmail got hacked. He didnt have Access to the Account no more and turned to microsoft. Their response was just straight up bullshit because I am so sure that they can try harder but chose not to.
Yes its not unexpected but seeing it Live is a whole another level of disgusting Business practices. Especially the Part where They Tell him that he should buy minecraft again instead of offering a key or something like that. I know That They cant access one Drive really Unless they have a backdoor key but still straight up scummy to Tell him Theres nothing they can do regarding his Account and that his onedrive data is lost.
Edit: I noticed a Lot of people saying its Fake and honestly idk if it is cause he didnt send me the Screenshot with the Mail included and I didnt ask. This is just the sc he sent me and honestly knowing ms and him is all I need personally. I do get some of the doubts tho, yea and I already wondered whether he was writing to a scammer but I didnt question it. Believe what yall will but I dont think its that unbelievable that ms wont bother with „small stuff like that“

I already Said I found it weird. But there is nothing wrong with believing my friend actually managed to contact Microsoft right. You dont know 100% if its an actual scam mail and neither do I. It is likely yes, but I just had faith and I dont see why you make it seem like it is 100% a Fake, even if not unlikely.
But just for the sake of it and bc yall got me more curious i decided to ask him for the sender of the mail and now im waiting for a reply
I get a lot of messages from MS - across a variety of their products - for the work I do. They are very standardized.
This does not resemble any email I have ever received from MS, but definitely resembles emails I’ve seen with scammers. This is why I’ve expressed concern here.
Its extremely unlikely, and the reason so many keep pointing this out is to make sure your friend safeguards their information, thats all. Having seen these situations before, I can also tell you about the very, very long legal aftermaths I’ve seen when identities are stolen. It can be years later and something new will crop up.
Assuming its MS is risky, and I hope you understand that people are really just trying to be helpful about this because we are (unfortunately) familiar.
I still get it 100% but that is the thing, I am as clueless as anybody else in These threads. I haven’t seen the Full email, he only sent me the screenshot where I blurred out his user. The only thing that differenciates me from the (other) skeptics is that I want to believe in that he did not send a mail to a scammer and used a correct mail adress instead. It is Not pragmatic I know but I dont think its that hard to understand that I want to think that he didnt Fall for a scam (again?).
In any case thanks yall for the concerns on his behalf and the Input of yall will definitely make me press him for more details regarding his mail Exchange.
