I’ll also just say from anecdotal experience, 90% of the time I have an interaction with a lemmy.ml user, it’s them doing apologia for Russia/China, or making insane claims that justify the genocide of the entire American nation (and thus its citizens) as a way of ‘getting back’ at America for its imperialism.
I have seen less of that from .ml than I used to… but mostly just because the craziest ones just moved to lemmygrad.
For this context, actual alternatives would be the Jacobin (socialist), Tageszeitung (general left, German, worker cooperative), Freedom (anarchist news).
I was more sympathising with the poster, but yeah that’s about it.
I’m not gonna engage mentally with anything from .ml since from experience it really isn’t worth it. Taking a wander on .ml was pretty much the most confusing thing I’ve ever experienced when I first tried out lemmy, I mean their ukraine community is all you need to see, really is kind of another level of closed off from reality. Either you’re out of the loop or you agree with them, but .ml being based around a (relatively) singular unquestioning belief system isn’t healthy.
“I don’t know anything about it but Lemmy.ml bad”
Is this… Really the bar?
One of the first posts you’ll see on the Lemmy.ml homepage is one celebrating Tass and RT, which are both Russian media outlets known for mixed and low factuality and for spreading blatant misinformation and state-sponsored propaganda for Russia.

Honestly yes
They’re trash over there, not worth the effort.
