    None of the many cats I’ve had would groom eachother if they were miserable, or let themselves be groomed for that matter. An unhappy cat wants to be left the fuck alone to silently stare daggers at everything.

    Also is that someone’s skin all ripped the fuck up beside them?

      And yeah I agree. Bottom cat looks like he’s having that itch scratched directly at his brainstem and is lost in the sauce. Top is squinting a lot and is loving it too

      They look slightly miserable because it’s a photo of a specific moment, half a second after they probably looked completely normal and happy

    Having cats, I can confirm that is the look of highly contented cohabitation. There are visibly no thoughts occurring in either of those heads and that only happens when they’re relaxed 😄

    yeaa, we have to be careful not to project human emotions to animals, they can be very different. it reminds me of one cat who was strapped in a car seat, with the car going, and the cat had their eyes and mouth large open. many people were like “oooh look how excited it is!” but people who knew cats knew the poor kitty was horrified
