I only use Brave to hook into personally hosted shit through tailscale. Kinda nice having a separate phone app that’s just used to keep those addresses pulled up and separate from actual internet browsing.

Internet browser ❎ Intranet browser ✅

I would love to use Firefox or IronFox on Android instead. However, it’s super insecure, so much so that even PG doesn’t recommend it. Not only that, they also run like shit, especially when used with a VPN. If it wasn’t for extension support, it would sadly just be inferior to chromium based browsers in every way, even for privacy. Firefox is the way to go on Linux, but on Android, wouldn’t recommend. Anyway, not that it’s going to matter much, if Google truly does start blocking use of GrapheneOS and lock down Android, then I’ll probably be switching to Droidian or Ubuntu Touch soon anyway

That’s some sad nonsense. Their “criteria” is some non-specific shit indistinguishable from slop generated from a butt.

Tor Browser is the only way to truly browse the internet anonymously.

Oh fuck the fuck right off with this, hackerman.

Firefox runs better and performs better than any bloated chrome-with-crypto-ads would even wishes to run. And unless we count as “has inbuilt plugin for Tor” as a security feature, and we will be insane to do that, there is no reason to suspect it’s somehow worse than chrome-but-our-ceo-simps-for-trump.

I don’t even use Brave’s Tor feature. Also, I don’t like Brave’s bloat but tbf, you can completely disable them all in the settings which is what I did. Btw, you don’t think that Google’s CEO simps for Trump? I hate the politics of Brave’s CEO, but not like big tech’s agenda is any better and Mozilla is subservient to Google whether they like it or not. Not to mention their constant pushing for adding AI features onto the vanilla browser.

I might try Cromite, but I’m hesitant to use web browsers maintained by one or two people since browsers constantly have security exploits that need patched quickly, something that a couple people can’t maintain on their own. If anything, I would use Vanadium if I had GrapheneOS but I’m stuck to LineageOS right now, lol

Let me introduce you to… Reynard! It is a gecko based web browser, it’s goal is to make browsers much more usable in older iOS although you still have to sideload it!

As farest as I know this is the first ever browser to use different web engine for iOS, it is insanely cool on-going project!

Kinda true. On iOS all browsers have to use the safari core as browser engine, but you still get the Firefox layer on top, most importantly account sync.
Like if I’m on the toilet, see an article I wanna read on lemmy, but it has too many ads, I just send the tab to my PC and read it later. Also bookmark syncing comes in very handy for me.

I have brave on Ios and if I’m correct it’s just using Apple’s safari webkit anyways. It’s been a few years since I compared browsers but back then it was the least shit, including firefox and firefox private.

is this the one that requires you to log in? i tried one that looks just like that and i loved the design but forced sign-in is a deal breaker for me. how private can it be if it demands to know who i am?
