Rant:
I am at work (food service) so I wasn’t able to just step away to order a Steam Controller. I started trying to a few minutes after launch and had to deal with Steam’s Mobile Authenticator bullshit (why can’t I use a different 2FA app?!?). Anyways I had customers and responsibilities so I had to put it away until I got a quiet second.
By the time I had a chance to run to the bathroom, about 50 minutes after its launch, the “checkout” button for my cart wasn’t working. So I went to the previous page, and it was sold out.
I’m so bummed; I’ve been essentially obsessing over it since the release date was announced. The wireless puck was a huge pull for me, because my DualShock 4 wireless USB adapter broke (some device’s usb must’ve supplied it bad voltage I think?), and the price to get a new one of those at this point just doesn’t make for me. Also a local electronics repair store pretty much told me to screw off, cuz of the price of the dongle.
Bluetooth isn’t as responsive, and repairing for each device is a PITA. Plus other features of the Steam Controller were exciting for me! Super disappointed.

You would think after a while people would start to get that and you would see a little more patience about these things.
I definitely got myself excited and bought into the launch hype.
Valve has a really solid track record at this point in time though. And most of the features aren’t new: they’ve existed in the Steam Deck. Also we’ve seen reviews from different publications now, and I watched GN’s teardown, which blew me away with how repairable the device is. Unfortunately for me, I understand why the demand is there. But I do hope there’s more stock soon
