  • I absolutely detest SQL. I will probably go to my deathbed having never typed a line of SQL in my life. I don’t know why I hate it as much as I do, but I refuse to learn it – my brain won’t let me.

I’ve programmed in C, C++, Python, BASIC, JavaScript, Assembly, etc. I wrote CGIs for Apache in all these languages, so I didn’t have to touch PHP. Every time I get near SQL or PHP, I start wanting to pull my hair out.

  • I originally liked Dewey because it slid from one topic to the next. And, as you were transitioning, the fields just merged into one another. It wasn’t obvious that 2 particular subjects were separate. My original plan was to use this to allow the user to go from page to page to page, after they’d originally chosen a starting position, they’d scroll pages like library shelves. I haven’t found another system like that.

The Library of Congress system isn’t as intuitive as Dewey either :'(.

I won’t be using web crawlers. Probably will stick with the site admins choosing where they’re indexed via an index.json file (or similar name).

  • Every single time people want to have an unmoderated, unchecked space, it’s because they — you — want to be able to air your most unsavoury opinions with impunity.

    Exactly!

Then come the Nazis, then come the CSAM, the decapitation videos, the harassment and doxxing, and so on until some part of it passes your personal line in the sand for what’s acceptable.

That would be up to the server owner (Moderation). There’s nothing wrong with decapitation videos.

Then all of a sudden it’s “Wah wah, mommy give me moderation”. It’s the same for all this freeze peach crap.

There’s already moderation built into this.
