Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How to Setup Authelia in Docker with SWAG Reverse Proxy (2026)English
0·2 months agoOh, you’re actually that corelab. I use your Vaulwarden guide as reference when I rebuild a while ago. Thanks for the write up !
Though, I wish you have something for Traefik and I know you wrote about why you chose SWAG but mine’s all docker anyway that’s why I go with Traefik.
There’s not many articles talking about TF with multiple host without going full Kubernetes. Looking up forward auth (for something without native OIDC) is confusing af.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How I backed up and booted locally my entire VPSEnglish
0·2 months agoWay over my head for filthy casual like me, but I get the gist.
I also have OCI instance (it just run wireguard), so what is the proper way of doing this?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Self-Host Weekly (26 June 2026)English
0·2 months agoYeah, I felt a little tingle when I read the “jab” at Mastodon, I don’t even use Mastodon lol.
So is there any more generic “social” apps beside microblogging like Bluesky? The other example there felt too niche to me, I don’t even know what I’m looking at.
Is there a Lemmy/Reddit adjacent thing there?
This is just silly, but I’ll chime in I guess.
I’m guessing you only ever deal with public trackers om the torrent sode of things.
Since I’m on private trackers (someone with usenet subs probably feel the same) the quality and moderation is far better than the streaming sites.
Also, I’m off the legit streaming sites like Netflix because I’m tired of them shoving things I do not care.
Setting it up the first time is a hassle but nowadays, I’ll just open up my Seer instance and that’s it. This inclide movies, shows, and anime. I don’t hoard.
I know it’s available cuz there will be a notification for it, most just a few hours after the broadcast at most.
I just open JF and watch it, idk what’s more convenient than that.
I don’t count since I do not care about stats. But my whole family use it. Shows/movie for my parents, k-drama/anime for me and sibling.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Why are there no hard forks of Firefox, Chromium, WebKit, or other browsers?
0·3 months agoWhoa, didn’t know about redox os. Neat.
The preview on their site make it looks like it’s pretty usable for basic daily use (even has balatro). I’m gonna try it. Thanks !

0·3 months agoI would argue it being cross-platform is magical.
There also copyparty. I don’t personally used it but their release video is fun AF.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Spend time setting up Hyprland just for an update to break your config and now you have to troubleshoot before you can be productive
0·3 months agomany apps that don’t support it.
Yeah, that is one thing making it harder. I use traefik-forward-auth/tiny Auth for that and honestly I still can’t make some apps work properly.
But at least the most used one are in place now and seems fine UX-wise (JF, vaultwarden, navidrome and frigate).
I’m doing this just because I want to stop relying on CF tunnel and just use my public ipv6, but I don’t think I’m ready security-wise.
And cf tunnel and other overlay network solution like Tailscale have a penalty on performance for me because their closest server are on the neighboring country.

0·3 months agoThis is me last Friday. Wanted SSO passkey so bad I pulled an all-nighter to make it work between 3 different machines.
I love passkey so I adamant on Pocket ID. End up hammering on it till 3AM with no success in sight, turns-out nothing is wrong with anything config-wise. I just wasn’t aware the bridge network you create didn’t enable ipv6 by default. Passed out at 5AM lol.
Now my sistet can’t complaint about so many password to manage.
End up canceling going out with friends Saturday night cuz I was already sleeping soundly at 8 PM.
It is.
I just go to the https://cloud.oracle.com/account-management/cost-analysis page and looks at the current usage every now and then.
Yes it’s 10TB.
I nearly hit the cap once when I first testing sunshine/moonlight to see how much bandwidth my set up could do and kinda FOMO for the steam deck hype.
It’s like 150 mb/s and works so well (for the kind of games I play) that I forgot the egress cap and just play for like a weeks even in the house, I realized and stop at ~ 9TB. My usual usage don’t even hit a TB most of the time lol.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is 1.111b class xyz ok for homeserver?English
0·4 months agoAs you said, it’s ten bucks for a decade.
I’ve use mine for years with no issue, and if any it’s my fault not the domain.
Oh, so are they (IDK the name but dude is locksmith but also throwing knives) pretty elite skill wise in locksmithing space?
I have no point of reference for that but in rock guitar term are they like Stevie Vai, Guthrie Govan level ?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•It's self hosting Sunday! What's up selfhosters? Infrastructure editionEnglish
0·4 months agoRight ?! Networking is voodoo witchcraft.
I was bored and decided to actually read wtf the deal is with IPv6 since my ISP gave it but never bother to know more.
All my devices can reach the ipv6 internet without me touching it, so I thought at least I could learn how to replicate my pretty simple lab but with v6.
3 days later I still have no clue how to assign static addresses properly. What do you mean each device have multiple addresses?? Android (google) didn’t support dhcpv6? Wtf is SLAAC ?
The DHCPv6 on Android Soap Opera as they called it, pretty fun read.
Also the folks at IPv6 sub seem to be majority professional because they can actually parse the RFC spec and treated it like mandatory Ed. Pretty nice and welcoming comm all thing considered.
It’s a whole rabbit hole and I still don’t know if my IPv6 is good IPv6 or not, and with bottom of the barrel equipment looking for guide is a pain. IPv6 content in general is pretty sparse even within the self hosting comms.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Cloudflare launches private mesh VPN (Tailscale-like) offeringEnglish
0·4 months agoThe simplest would be renting a VPS I think.
I grabbed an Oracle free-tier many moons ago. The x86 one with 4 gig of memory I think? The arm have a much more core and memory but unless you go with Pay As You Go (PAYG) account ( need a one time refundable $100 credit) it’s virtually impossible to grab it.
My free tier account is sufficient as pure VPN for accessing stuff, you get 10 TB/month egress traffic. The downside is it’s Oracle, and you are at their mercy ( they can purge it without notice )
I never tried it because CGNAT but maybe Dynamic DNS could also solve this.
Other than that, Tailscale / CF tunnel etc are a fine solution ( for now )

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why are you crying, Windows user?
0·5 months agoIndeed. Dude my main pc is just a modest last gen r7 32G with decent gpu. And I’m glad I pulled the trigger for the 16g upgrade last year.
Now I don’t personally believe in higher being, but I’ll be lying if I’m not nervous everytime I power up the thing. If anything breaks even if I go a tier cheaper I couldn’t afford the replacement.
Did you tried other version besides Dodi before hand? Like fitG or idk cs.rin version if it exist?
Seems a lot of hassle if you didnt dual boot than trying different version.
But yeah, there’s no “it just works” on Linux fot every person since it’s always case by case basis
I think Bazzite specifically targeted gaming if you wanna try again.

I think the no-nonsense, minimal hype and visual contribute to that. Also, the name didn’t automatically conjure “authentication” like authentik/authelia/pocket-id does, so maybe people just gloss over it.
I’ll probably tried this over now that I’m aware. Thanks for sharing.
