18 days agoTo add to this TLDR, the age gating and sensitive content filter forced onto underage users plays into Metas surveillance Capitol business model and removes a lot of the visibility and resources that LGBTQ youth might need/want because by default it considers anything that has to do with LGBTQ topics as adult and blocks them under the sensitive content filter.
This has a possibility of increasing the social isolation that LGBTQ youth might experience by depriving them of access to their communities online if they are subject to the sensitive content filter
I think that considering the federal bill in the US currently aimed at forcing ISPs and VPN providers to block foreign piracy websites that copyright holders absolutely see piracy as an untapped market. Even if their plan is to ban their competition rather than change their business practices in a way that would attract those customers
