0·9 days ago 0·9 days ago- Is not-liking-being-monitored-by-some-asshole-billionaire-ceo-who-is-selling-all-my-movements-and-habits-to-people-i-know-nothing-about-and-i-have-no-reason-to-trust-their-intentions a hobby? - Imagine every time you stepped out of your house there was a guy following you everywhere, taking notes of everything you do, and selling those notes to fuck-knows-who. Would you need an excuse not to like it?

- I think what you are looking for are custom holographic label stickers. Without having its original design it’s quite troublesome to make an exact copy, especially if you use non-symmetrical overlapping geometrical shapes and hex color bases that are just a bit off the common ones… however, I don’t know a tool to automatically verify them, and as hand-signed copies, they can be copied close to perfection with enough resources.
- You mean the VPN? Changing server doesn’t fix it?
- you know that suit from A Scanner Darkly? I think about that suit a lot…
- I guess a lot of cameras cover sidewalks and so. I have one pointing at my front door and one at my garage door and both show the side walk… I never gave much thought about it until I saw that article about Amazon’s Ring cameras recording passerby faces and putting it into their database.

The other day a neighbor of mine got a new phone and asked me to do the start configuration, create Google Acc, download Facebook, TikTok, Whatsapp and crap like that, she had all of that in her previous phone, but she traded it and didn’t remove the SIM card and thought it was a less of hassle creating a new acc for everything and registering a new SIM in her name than simply keeping her SIM and writing down her email addresses and passwords… and I believe a large portion of our population operates like that, absolutely barbaric.

0·14 days ago 0·14 days ago- I feel you.
I recommend checking photopea.com, it’s a very light photoshop webversion that can do almost everything photoshop can do, a very cool tool.
0·14 days ago 0·14 days ago- As a life-long pirate, having full MS Office, Macromedia and Adobe packages weren’t ever a problem, but one day I decided to start using FOSS stuff… and man, getting into GIMP was damn painful, oh, the horror!
I’m very glad for photopea.com when I need to do some quick stuff, but for GIMP, this guy here made a very cool setup to help us Photoshop users https://github.com/Diolinux/PhotoGIMP

0·14 days ago 0·14 days ago - I asked them exactly that hehe
So, technically the sites you are redirecting from will never know you tried to access them and the addon is not interacting with any page, but the dev didn’t address/think of probing. I don’t have enough tech knowledge to confirm the addon won’t react to anything, thus making itself known. I don’t know which probing techniques there are and how all those resist-fingerprint and sandboxing settings from privacy-conscious browsers work against it… it does, however, sound like a sophisticated and resource-consuming method that I don’t think they would be using on regular internet unless they have specific targets, so if they have such probing techniques they are probably using it on IPs going through the TOR network (and you shouldn’t use any addon on Tor anyway).
It’s all about your threat model, if you just want to avoid regular tracking and profiling the addon should be fine, now if you are afraid of some sophisticated and resourceful threat actors targeting you, don’t take your chances with any addon.

0·16 days ago 0·16 days ago- If you use some WFP manager you can block all incoming connections and also block all OS connections… I basically only let my browser communicating with the internet, the rest has no business online.
0·17 days ago 0·17 days ago- Oops, I forgot to mention the OS, it’s Win11 (I edited the main post now).
0·17 days ago 0·17 days ago- thanks, going to try it :)

I guess they will just put more flock cams on the streets. The law say the government can’t violate your privacy without a warranty, so they are using private companies for that.
