What bothers me about rallies is that they’re about rallying people, not conveying information.
That’s why Trump loves them, he has never conveyed anything resembling information in all his time. A lot of dog whistling hurtful things, but not information.
If only it was just the ballroom! If you have 24 minutes, there is this great history run down on Trumps ballroom and how in the grand scheme of things is actually one of the most normal things of his presidency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUxdsySDsUw
It is just everything else that he does is a wild typhoon of cruel stupidity.
In all my years I have never seen a candidate that matches of with my ideals, but that didn’t mean I didn’t vote. You try to find the closest match and then nudge the needle a little closer to what you want even if it is compromised.
There may be some fundamentals underneath that are difficult to change but it does not mean that both sides are the same.
That is because to be the most efficient they have to constantly adjust the deadzone temperature. Its not just monitoring but active control. This is based on local air temperature, humidity and stock levels. To be even more efficient they put a thousand fridges online so that a small team can do the work of a much larger local team.
So the real reason is that to increase profit margins, they consolidated lots of workers behind a few and did this via the internet. A common story the world over.
Yes, we know it was called the The South American Blackout of 2019.
Maybe a bit of both. Could be an intellectual form of Hanlon’s razor. Don’t mistake obscurity for intelligence.
Folks in the US are both comfortable enough and unsteady enough that they will not move. It was Zizek about a week back who said it, people are not desperate enough yet to get to this stage. *** sniff! ***
The thing that saddens me isn’t a headline like that, it is that there will be more like him afterwards. :(
Turns out I just posted this further up the page with different wording. 🙃
Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern.
There is someone who works a new stand. Everyday an elderly man walks up to the stand, looks at the news papers and the walks of in disgust.
Eventually the worker stops the old man and asks him “Why do you do that every day?”
The old man says “I am looking for a specific obituary.”
The worker says “But the obituaries are in the back on the new paper.”
The old man says “Not this one.”
Is Kramig the next Blahaj?
It is odd seeing someone do political self immolation for no reason at all. I’m starting to think Haley isn’t the brightest bulb in the pack.
A thousand times this! It isn’t the popularity that is the issue, it is the economic model of exploitation.
I am in Melbourne, Australia, things are still ticking along fine enough BUT we can see the wave coming.
There was a book from 1957 called ‘On the beach’, it was about Melbourne being last city on Earth that has survived a nuclear war and how we would surcumb to the same fate as everyone else. It is starting to feel like that but in economic terms.
A few years back there was an ad campaign for a construction company, they put it on the side of buildings under construction, it merely said “Hey ChatGPT, finish this!”.
Find jobs they cannot automate and massage therapist is a great one. best of luck for the future from a random internet stranger.
I love and completely hate just how much of a dint Liz Truss did in for 40-something days. Made the history books in the worst way.
Spot on! Youth should power and drive the future, the elders should avoid the pitfalls they made themselves.
Currently, there are a fair amount of people trying to convince us that Iran is the enemy. Yes, their culture has its issues. But it doesn’t really work when the 5 Iranians I personally know are some of the nicest people you will meet.
Our differences are far smaller than the things that unify us.
Debian the foundation of the modern world. Or at least we wish it was.
