And with you being on Windows 10 I’m guessing your think pad is pretty old. I’d move onto Linux with it being much lightrr and running better.

And if they have a thinkpad their hardware may be pretty old with it on Windows 10. Linux will run better on it anyways which is another reason to move on to it.

You don’t need to spend the 20 bucks right away. It can buy multiple indie titles or old triple a games during sales.

Ltsc is the better route for those staying on Windows with no Microsoft login being required.

Windows 10 ltsc will get security updates until 2032.

Go with Windows 11 ltsc if you won’t move to Linux. That way you’ll get security fixes but no new AI for a while. Doesn’t even come with the Microsoft Store or onedrive, so pretty barebones. It’s already stripped down compared to regular Windows people try to debloat then can run into issues with after new updates bring new “features”.

If you just want security updates and no new AI stuff go to ltsc.

I like used thinkpad. Was sold after I picked up a t480s for real cheap and impressed by the keyboard on it. Then put Linux on it. So route I’ll take going forward is ThinkPads for cheap once warranty ends and businesses start offloading them.

If you really want to go to Windows 10 might be able to do it with Windows 10 ltsc. Activate it with MAS and should be good seeing as you don’t need to be logged into a Microsoft account for it to keep getting security updates unlike what is being offered to Windows 10 Pro and below that needs a Microsoft account to be logged in to first be able to extend support and to stay logged in.

Can you install wondows 11 ltsc on it? That’s one way to escape copilot crap for a few years while new AI stuff gets pushed on pro versions and below every month.

I think I saw it when i went to go update and then somehow the instructions on syncthing 2.0 being its own separate app, since straight up update could cause issues. Not sure if it was pop up within the syncthing app or descriptions page for it on f-droid. Well I do use droidify to install f-droid apps since I prefer the UI so maybe that’s why I saw something.

I knew because I install through F-droid instead of github so ended up getting like a notice informing me that to upgrade to 2.0 I should back up the settings then uninstall 1.3 then install 2.0 then back up settings.

But, if retrieving from github or obtanium then maybe message wasn’t relayed.

During the update to 2.0 you had to uninstall the 1.3 version then install and restore your syncthing-fork settings. So if you are still on 1.3 that’s probably why you aren’t seeing it. Should pop up if you search F-droid for the 2.0 version.

And if paranoid fresh install after activating.
