They have successfully circumvented the reboot. I just always turn that setting off. SSDs are ubiquitous, nobody needs a fake shutdown. It just causes more issues.

On windows? WHAT? You drunk? Linux has zram. This is where the discussion ends immediately.
I love having it idle at 100% for 30 mins, fan at max, just to update some windows nonsense. Updating 500 packages on linux is done in 5 mins including the download. Like how do you even manage to make the update process THAT bad if not on purpose? I am baffled by that. It’s a thinkpad dual core i7 with an SSD. It only runs Debian now thankfully.
Tiktok on PC is god awful, so I doubt it. Facebook and porn maybe?
I hate all webdev beyond using raw HTML, CSS and Javascript to make your own crappy website
I use podman and have absolutely no idea what I am doing. Send help
Tbf, I also really don’t want to learn Rust. Overhyped dreck
I feel like if you know how to look up the answer and can follow a guide to apply 5 steps, you are probably more capable than 80% of the people on this planet.
It’s best not to touch anything web related, lest you want to go mad. It’s like the elder scrolls or laying eyes on some cosmic horror creature. Tbf this also goes for C++
Debian is not a good distro for desktop usage. You cannot change my mind.
Damn, even as a Linux user I get tired with all these “windows bad” posts. Yes, we all know it sucks. No lemmy user wants to use windows.
This is on you. You prepare your computer ahead of time. Do updates the night before, check if everything works. You also have an empty battery? Like I loathe windows as much as anyone, but this would never ever happen to me. I triple check it all, especially if it runs windows.
You have my vote.
It’s not about how many extensions there are. It’s about half of them breaking with each new version. Unless you like outdated systems, in which case you are fine.
So, why do UI people not use and contribute to FOSS then? Are they all on Mac? Then go complain to them or contribute your desired UI improvements. FOSS isn’t an all you can eat buffet.
Personally, I think UI people are less idealistic and I do look down on them for that.
Photoshop is also hard to learn. What’s your point? Just because it’s different to what you used to does not means it’s more or less difficult to learn.
Maybe if we put ads in and take away the ability to download content foe offline use?
I even have to tell stupid windows to interpret the bios clock as UTC.
If you have a dvd drive in your PC, you are officially old. I have one, blu ray even. Haven’t used it in years. It’s not even wired up atm.
I remember breaking my Ubuntu install a bunch of times when trying to install nvidia drivers and flash player to watch YouTube.
