Open RGB is a absolutely fucking shit show.
Then again RGB in windows is barely better then a fucking shit show.
RGB controls in general is just bad on everything.

Desktops only frankly became remotely useable to normal people with recent revisions of things like kde…
Between that and software actually finally started becoming remotely reliable in like 2022-2023 for your avg windows user.
Comparing the past to now is not reliable fair.
More progress towards making things normal user friendly have happened in the last 3-5 years then the last 20.
If there’s one thing AI is good at is trawling though a hell scape of random data from across time and space. And outputting… Something reasonably close.
Least close enough to actually put you in the right path 9 times out of 10. Even if the ai is wrong, it’s still vastly more time effective then going to stack overflow for this was solved with no solution present.
Hell I had a issue trying to find documentation for a old game I was modding from 10 years ago that maybe sold 1000 copies the wiki was dead the devs site was dead and the way back machine didn’t have the pages I needed.
Some fucking how chat gpt knew the game, was able to identify it correctly from a script I gave it then spat out the exact correct context and documentation I needed.
It was flabbergasting. Cause at the same time it told me the game came out in 1995 when it came out in 2015… It got basic ass info wrong but the technical details right.
I was so fucking confused how it managed that.

Don’t forget if a previously popular application starts to become unpopular its typically for a good reason! So watching downward trends can also clue you into issues or problems you would not have other wise known.
People dislike change so it takes something decently serious to actually halt momentum.

The right answer is,
Debian if they just use web browsers and basic office apps.
Fedora if they use do the same but also use recent hardware that needs a newer kernel
Bazzite if they are a casual gamer and you want to make sure her sims still work easily
Cachy if she’s a nerd and plays a lot of higher end games.
All with kde of course

Who even uses normal arch anymore.
All the cool kids use endeavour or cachy. Which is like calling Ubuntu, Debian.

Suggesting anything with gnome should come with a penalty of having to fist fight a Canadian goose and it’s henchswans.

Basically none, if you want user friendly macro and layers your basically stuck to windows. That or your doing bullshit jank that barely works, breaks frequently and requires way too much effort for no good results.
Its one of the better examples of Linux being dog shit at being user friendly.
The most common excuse I see is it’s not safe and secure so it’s not supported. Or you need to just use an abandoned app from a random GitHub that’s 9 years old only works on x11 and requires a blood sacrifice.

Any distro in the last decade even worth the time to use it’s easy.
The only expectation is if it’s a distro purely built to only use Foss software with out expections.
There ARE common mod packs that’s the entire point of wabbajack it even has Linux support.
There is zero fucking effort in modding Skyrim nowadays.
