Heya all. As per title, I’m looking for a good dark theme for qbittorrent. So far I’ve tried three (MumbleDark, Dracula, DarkStyleSheet), and they all have black text on dark grey background for unselected torrents.
This, imo, is about as clever as going 4000m underwater in a rinkydink submersible that’s barely rated for 2000m. Surely someone wouldn’t go to the trouble of creating a dark mode, with black text on dark grey. Wondering if it’s something to do with my windows 10 setup, or just how it’s designed… can anyone direct me to one that doesn’t have this ‘feature’ or solve why this happens? Help much appreciated!
I use this dark mode theme which you might find has better contrast.
Seconding this, I really like the Absinthe theme from this set.
Thanks. I just tried a few from there and same issue, so I’m going to settle on this being a windows-related problem seeing as it’s happening with each one I try. Someone else has commented that it’s to do with windows theme engine, so at least I’m narrowing it down.
Dracula works fine for me.
Thanks, these replies have been really helpful to narrow down where the issue is…
You could use the web interface and a dark mode extension for your browser.
Had no idea QB had a web interface, interesting. I reckon this is going to be the solution if I can’t get windows to play nice (which appears to be the issue). I usually switch off stuff like themes but I’ve not been on this laptop in a while so perhaps I can solve this poking around the windows settings.
I like VueTorrent
I second this, also great if you’re hosting the qb webui for the SIGNIFCANTLY better mobile experience, also the customizable cards is a massive plus.
Thanks, I’ve been suggested a pre-themed build so if that doesn’t work I’m definitely open to switching to a different app on the laptop.
Qbittorrent’s theming engine sucks and is forever at war with windows theme engine.
I just use this instead:
Cheers, it’s half one in the morning here and that looks quite an intimidating, time consuming setup so think I’ll give it a look after a sleep. Seems my issue is indeed with windows, hopefully there’s an easier fix… maybe I need to disable themes or something.
Ummm…just go to the releases section. There’s an executable windows installer which will install a fully themed version. It’s infinitely easier than getting themes to work properly on the default install.
I will happily admit I’m a github dunce, I don’t code and it’s always so confusing to me what exactly I’m supposed to be clicking on… I’ll do that, thanks for the suggestion.
BTW your suggestion solved my problem, many thanks. Am I right in thinking that I need to stick with this version now… any updates will just revert to the standard windows-conflicting problem?

Yes, you’ll need to turn off automatic updates in Qbittorrent’s settings. That GitHub link is updated semi regularly when there is a significant update- qbittorrent are fairly zany with their updates, even the most minor and insignificant change they drop an update.
