Just checked Outer Wilds, which is deemed „slighly woke“ because the race of aliens to which you belong all use they/them pronouns. They do note that the race of aliens you‘re studying all use he/him/she/her pronouns.
Here‘s the thing - your race has evolved from amphibians. Hermaphroditism and spontaneous sex-change is a well-established trait in some species of amphibians. The other race are mammals, where such examples are much rarer.
For it to actually be a „woke“ thing, rather than world-building, you‘d have to have one of the mammals be referred to as „they“. Or, perhaps, one of your race referred to as „he“ or „she“. As it is, it suggests that gender is either non-existent or fluid amongst your species and therefore it makes no sense to use that as an identifier, and gender exists amongst the other species and therefore it does make sense to use that as an identifier.
And, truthfully, we don‘t know, because other than a couple of references to people „flirting“ with each other (in both species) and you being referred to as „hatchling“ rather than being given a name, sex gender, reproduction, etc. doesn‘t come up at all.
Surprised they haven’t listed any of the Metal Gear Solid games at all in their database… those are woke as fuck.

Practically the only games I’ve played that aren’t woke are Frostpunk - the child slavery simulator. And Overlord, a game where you are literally the villain and command a slave army of gremlins. We live in the satire reality.

It’s the accessibility that is considered woke. The tricky part of DEI is that it’s actually DEIA, but that last letter is conveniently never listed when they’re talking about eliminating it. Because they know their conservative voting base is aging, and will increasingly need accessibility features.

Looked up my list and it’s really curious to see the ratings for my favorite games. Some games were marked “woke” for things I absolutely wouldn’t have thought of, while in other games I think some of the messaging flew over their heads.

Not Woke: FTL, where the main goal is to defeat an organization of violent racist facists.

I didn’t use to read the texts too carefully when playing, so idk, I don’t remember it. But Wikipedia agrees with you, so I guess that’s how it is.
Come to think of it, even if they missed the narrative motivation, they would still have to count it as woke because it has female crew members who are just as efficient and strong as male ones. I shit you not, that was their complaint regarding Age of Empires 2 and 3…
The human supremecist plot is told through bits of text but also the fact that all rebel ships have 100% human crew.
Meanwhile the Federation (which is the government the player is fighting to preserve) values diversity and attempts to make peace with all the aliens.
One of the achievements you need to unlock one of the federation ships is to have a crew with at least 6 different species or something like that.
