I love a good news story. A declining population who can also hold steady or improve their environmental footprint is taking meaninful strides towards sustainability.
The population decline is especially strong in the less densely populated provinces of Italy and also the south. Also the baby boomers are currently at retirement age and not quite at the age of them really starting to die on mass. So this will probably go faster.
