Socialism provides it’s citizens with benefits like free education, free healthcare, low cost housing, and etc. This allows for people to meet their basic needs if they in a low income situation and can not normally pay for those things in a capitalistic society.
That said there is still room for job elevation in Communist countries. You can still get paid more than other people in Communist countries. There are still job incentives like getting promoted, getting bonuses, liking your job, and using the money to buy things. In Capitalism there can still be a lack of incentives as well, you are stuck in the same job, you are under paid for your work, you expected to produce more while being paid the same, etc.
Profit still exist in Communist countries they haven’t remove it yet into they reach true Communism which is anarchy.
