I was using NoIP until I saw that it is listed as frequently abused: https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists/blob/main/adblock/dyndns.txt
The purpose is to setup a URL to use for my self-hosted nextcloud instance (storage). 😊
I’ve been using them for close to 10 years without issues. I appreciate the very simple update system. Free, but I’ve been donating for a few years now.
Desec.io when they are open for taking in new members. Fantastic service. Run by a bin-profit-equivalent in Germany.
+1 for desec, I use them alongside Porkbun as my registrar. Great service, great UI and they’re working on keepass support for login. They also do ephemeral login sessions by default which rocks.
@Creat @akunohana deSec ist also on the list (https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists/blob/5ca6caa2cd85ee3e21b61eeb410eae021f6ec098/adblock/dyndns.txt#L280) which is not unusual for free DynDNS Services.
Cloudflare, get yourself a cheap .com domain for less than $10usd annually and a docker image will do the rest. Google (or Duck) cloudflare-ddns docker. Super simple, and it’ll run alongside your nextcloud without issue
Second this. You don’t even need the endpoint to be publicly accessible. Use DNS-01 with letsencrypt and have a local dns server that internal hosts resolve that hostname to a local Ip.
nsupdate.info or freedns.afraid.org (the first one is open source and has a main instance)
mmm they blocked nsupdate.info in the adblock you list, wtf
is a community project…
@akunohana I don’t know of any DynDNS provider that isn’t regularly abused 😐
