During a walk, my sister took a photo of squirrels with their tails matted and knotted together. I’ve heard of rat kings, but would this be considered a squirrel king?
I never knew Squirrel Kings were a thing, they appear to mostly happen to siblings
wouldn’t have expected this to be a wiki entry but now I’m curious what other animals could he burdened by this circumstance
I wonder if it’s the same from that page, on the 11th, in Bend, Oregon
Wow, thanks for sharing this. My first impression was that they were acting like daddy long legs, but no, this is bad.
Please help them! They may not be able to get separated without human intervention.
just followed up after seeing your comment. someone was called out for assistance.
Squirrels are vectors for the bubonic plague… So… Yeah, definitely go grab 'em.
well that’s definitely a way to not make more babies no?
At least in the US you can call your local animal control and either them, or the regional wildlife rehab center will help separate them if possible.
Source: Worked at one of those centers in a past life when I wanted to be in veterinary sciences. (SOooOO MANY BABY BIRDS -_- )
I hadn’t heard of either and now I’m a little less comfortable than I was before about the world we live in.
Reading the wiki page, at least it seems people are very successful at untangling Squirrel Kings.
There might be some form of survivorship bias in there. We aren’t documenting the instances we aren’t discovering.
Definitely, but it seems the ones we do find we are generally able to help. I’m sure the ones we do not find pretty much just die.
Thought this was a joke, but it appears to be exactly what it says it is.
“Break out the 20-gauge Pa! We eatin’ tonight!”
this from ancient aliens on the sega genesis???
I want to see it move
