minus-squareNigelFrobisher@aussie.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·3 days agoMDMA. It was kind of a big deal! Also, surely oestrogen still starts with an “O”?
minus-squarestrawberry_enjoyer42@lemmy.blahaj.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·3 days agoMDMA? I beg your pardon for my ignorance. Also, you must be a Brit, or perhaps an Aussie, as “Estrogen” is the proper spelling in American English.
minus-squareNigelFrobisher@aussie.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·3 days agoYeah, I am, and the music charts in the early 90s were pretty much an endless procession of low-effort E references, like this one: https://youtu.be/J7uVVImPhdY

minus-squarechunk6235@piefed.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·3 days agoYes, and testosterone is referred to at T quite frequently in trans spaces
minus-squarestrawberry_enjoyer42@lemmy.blahaj.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·3 days agoYeah. Trans people often call: Estrogen -> E Testosterone -> T Progesterone -> Prog Testosterone-blockers: t-blockers Spironolactone -> Spiro etc. It’s probably a combination of convenient shorthand, and avoiding the dysphoria of thinking about which hormones you have in your body.
minus-squarephar@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·3 days agoWell, if you like estrogen, may I recommend ecstasy? It’s a good time!
