I guess that’s where communism and capitalism meet: people with power asking “why should I be nice to people I have power over”, and too many of them treating it like a rhetorical question.
I feel like there’s a difference between being cordial and acting the way customer service workers are taught to act. I don’t want to grovel either and I don’t blame the kid.
