New descriptions aren’t generated, they are user submitted. Just like Sponsorblock’s (same dev) data is comunity sourced, so is Dearrow.
Dearrow does have a few auto options for when no user data is submitted, such as decapitolising and removing emojis. The intent is remove the “loudness” of the clickbait. If there is a user submission it will show you that over the auto options.
There is also the auto the tumbnail generated that just picks a random frame. To be clear, a user submitted thumbnail is just a specified frame from the video, not something new uploaded. A person can select an appropriate “screenshot” from the video that convays the topic.
The more popular the channel is the more likely it will have a user submitted title and thumbnail. I see it most with educational stuff, where the creator is forced to play the algoritm but is a known, subjectivly, good creator. Other channels it’s kinda of sparatic, it really depends if someone finds the content title/thumbnail clickbaity enough to warrent a new title and it’s worth their time to actually watch the video to come up with an accruate title. Or the clickbait is so outrageous it pisses someone off enough they submit a new title out of spite to warn others.
An example could be,
Clickbait title; “YOU WON’T BEILVE WHAT HE DID🤬🤬🤬”
(Thumbnail image of “react face” with vauge pixelated crap in the background"
Dearrow Auto-settings; “You won’t beilve what he did”
(Thumbnail of random frame from video, happened to be some b-roll of a grocery store that may or may not be relevant)
User submitted; “Bob reacts to Jack swimmig in beans after years of only climbing beanstalks”
(Thumbnail of specified frame where we see the youtuber Bob on screen when they are showing the video of Jack swimming in a pool of beans"
It doesn’t seem to actually generate new descriptions though it just decapitolises them.
