Some things arent about perspective.
Yes, and adults should get free lunch at work. Non working adults should get lunch too. End the “no such thing as a free lunch” paradigm /serious
That is true, everyone should be entitled to a meal - especially within the place of work or education. Ideally, this sort of thing shouldn’t be limited by if the person is a child, teenager or adult.
That just means increased taxation. Still no free lunch.
Embarrassing that you didn’t read @maya_s_trojan@piefed.blahaj.zone comment before commenting this
Huh? I wasn’t responding to them. I was responding to you.
“No such thing as a free lunch” isn’t a judgement on whether someone should get to eat or not. Of course everyone should get to eat. Or maybe nobody deserves to eat if you’re a sadist who wants everyone to suffer. That’s irrelevant. No such thing as a free lunch just means there’s a cost behind everything (not even always economic costs). The cost for everyone getting food without having to pay for it is everyone who works paying more taxes, or some other spending being cut. You’re only changing who pays for the lunch, it doesn’t become free.
And the saying isn’t even about lunch or money, it’s usually metaphorical. E.g if you want to spend more time playing video games as an adult, your lunch (video games) is probably “paid for” by sleeping less. Is that a worthy tradeoff? Up to you, no such thing as a free lunch doesn’t decide that for you.
In the most literal sense of the saying, though, it just means that someone treating you to lunch or anything else that has a cost to them, usually has something they want in return. Maybe it’s a favour, maybe they’re trying to sell you something. If it’s the government giving you free lunch then what they want is your vote and for you to be a more motivated worker so that you can pay more tax.

Another perspective:
It shouldn’t even be referred to as “free” because it allows the implication that they’re getting something for nothing.
“Kids should have nutritious food available to them at school” removes this idea implied by capitalism where we are ascribing it a value instead of display of humanity and an understanding that healthy, well-educated citizens benefits everyone.
Capitalism has poisoned the well of the language with which we speak of our issues.
Further, it was never “free” it was a cost seen as being worth being paid for the benefits it brought that wildly outweighed the cost of doing it to begin with.
The idea that a society must work together for the benefit of all was never a United States value system, and the country only played like they cared during certain periods to prevent popular uprisings.
thank you for sharing your perspective! It is hard to get out of capitalistic ways of thinking
Yeah this shit should already be well bought and paid for with our taxes, and the idea that it’s not is worth being pissed off about.
Stop using my money to bomb kids and start using it to fuckin feed them 🤬
Speaking of something as free inherently devalues it and reduces it to the financial burden anyway. Not much capitalistic bias there.
Having healthy meals at a cafeteria and eliminating food poverty is different to free school meals for American cefetria style sloppy joes qualify for the latter. And you reduce the benefit to being to poor people explicitly
School lunches for all vould also be a better phrasing for it.
FEED KIDS
