It’s not an assassination. It’s an execution. Assassination makes it sound like this guy is some kind of martyr instead of a mass murderer, which he is. That’s what he’s being executed for. Doesn’t make execution a good thing and it’s definitely fucked up that they’re televising it and using a firing squad, but it’s not an assassination.
He is being executed by a state that is a self-proclaimed enemy of Islam. This execution, if it plays out, will be used to radicalize non-state actors, amd incite acts of terror against the US.
The nuances and semantics won’t matter, any more than it matters to MAGA that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was right-wing.
Hopefully we’ll come to our collective senses before then, and just imprison him for life.
