I personally believe that both things can be true at the same time. Like, one of my favorite movies of all times is The Blues Brothers and I love that movie so much because it has no other pretense than showing you a good, fun, absurd way to enjoy music. Does it challenge the viewer at any time? Nope. Is it a lot of fun, possibly the most fun you’ll ever get from a movie (if you’re like me)? Yep.
