    PSA: If you are an indoor swing enjoyer, you might be tempted to use brackets like these to hang your swing.

    This mount type is a bad time waiting to happen, especially if you are a bit heavy and…enthusiastic.

    Instead, I highly recommend the following type of mount, especially if you take it a step further and add a thick plate of metal between the nut and the wood in order to spread tge strain and reinforce the mount point.

    PS: Drill your holes from the top (attic) down.

      Do you drill from the top down because the emerging bit causes the wood to split slightly, and that avoids the small splits from having to bare weight?

        You definitely want to use the correct bit, and a drill with a level bubble built in. I also recommend the mount to be relatively close to a load bearing wall, and or “sister” the joist.
