i’m FINALLY COUGHT UP with all the posts!!! doesn’t mean i’m done making them, but i’m finally back to being on track. so when tomorrows post will be number 70, it’ll actually be the 70th day of me making daily posts. that is good.

oh yea, this is totally not a political statement, i’d just really like this guy cuz he always seemed so honest. he’d slip on stuff sometimes but… how could you get mad at this shy llittle wittle guy??? impossible.

        Zionism has two different meanings in how Germans use the word.

        1. The state of Israel has a right to exist.
        2. Israel has the right to be a jewish apartheids-ethnostate that actively controls it’s non-jewish population.

        Habeck falls firmly in the first category and stands firmly against the second one. He called the “Settlers” terrorists and heavily criticized the Israeli government. He called out brutality and that the Netanyahu government has created a different Israel than the one Germany should support.

        He says the necessity exists for a state where jews can live in safety, that is a far cry from “Israel should be a jewish state”.

          They’re the same thing.

          If Israel is not #2, then what is it? A liberal democracy where all have equal rights? A country that allows Arabs to become the majority population? That allows them not just freedom of movement and basic human rights but also to hold positions of influence in government, industry, and culture?

          At that point a country that operates in that way might be called Isreal but has a fundamentally different identity and purpose from the country that exists today. At that point does it make sense for the flag to continue to have a Star of David on it?

          In what way does Israel preserve its “right to exist” if not through being an apartheid ethnostate?

              I’m thinking dude. Fitz has made some good points and I don’t want to brush that off, so now I’m thinking about his arguments, formulating my own opinion, formulating and double-checking my own arguments and all that while I’m at my day job. So PISS OFF with that crickets shit back to the .ml-Sever you crawled from!

              Demanding a quick answer is not the measure of a great intellect OR of a good argument. People need to take their time and think instead of just screaming at each other.

            I think the topic attracted mainly feddit.org users and most of us still know what nuance means and how Israel and Zionism are discussed in the german speaking world. shrug

            But yes, I am glad too, because I have been heavily downvoted in the past on that topic. And while downvotes can be a good indicator of if one has a shittake, sometimes the purity-testing of my fellow lemmings just completely throws nuance out the window.

        Well, I believe too that Israel, in general, has a right to exist (though not to break its own laws or to harm others for the sake of it, as its current far right government does) and hence have been called a Zionist too.

          he’d be… such a guy. such a guy to vote for. peeps are gonna vote for extremes i think, so that’s plenty of left/green and AfD votes i believe.

          but imagine the greens had Habeck back. like - that’d be SUCH a seller for that party. we have so few politicians that seem human today so… having someone like him would be so nice. i need him to pat my schMerz away… but your pets are also nice, thank you very much <3

      Yes, but… He was the best we had in higher political circles. Did he and Annalena crush the Fundis and move the Greens slightly to the right? Yes, they did and we should hold them accountable for that. We should also never fear to point out their failures, like you did here. But we should absolutely rally behind him when the alternative looks like Merz or even worse… like the Alt-Right-ernative.

          I do understand it though… Die Linke is a direct successor to the SED and their members constantly came up with phenomenally stupid ideas as well, just different flavour (cuddled with Russia until recently, wanted to leave NATO…). Though they might be way more votable now that Sarah and her minions left.

          Probably a generational divide with this topic as well. Someone remembering the Cuba crisis and growing up in the whole red scare thingy is probably more inclined to write off Die Linke as extremists.

          Unfortunately the alternatives are all pretty corpo, including Die Grünen…
